MINUTES – ANTI-DISCRIMINATION MT. # 3
Government and Human Services May 11, 2005
Meeting was called to order at 8:50 by chairman Alice Willetts
• Approval of Minutes of April 6, 2005, as corrected.
• Present – Committee – Peg Hebner, Jim Godderz. Alice Willetts (Ch.)
Council member – Joanna Jacobs
Community members – Alan Barman, Clarkson Palmer, Paul Greene
• Reports - On assignments from last meeting:
1. The Reverend Atkinson was not present. He was to report on the
feelings of the Ministerium re: Anti-discrimination legislation.
2 . Alice Willetts reported that she had reached the Bed and
Breakfast owners and they saw no problem at the present nor
in the future.
She also contacted Sw. College (President Bloom and Vice
President Maurice Eldridge) and they provided her with the
College Position, found in their catalogue, re: discrimination.
. They seem to have every situation covered.
• Continuation of Anti-Discrimination Legislation discussion:
Some reiteration of old ideas and opinions
Gender discrimination not protected by state.
Resolution or Ordinance?
Enforcement? Community Service?
Concensus was to have mediation followed by arbitration – then
cease and desist.
Mediation-- Community Dispute Settlement Services
Free or donation . Brenda Wolfer
Use Civil Service Commission – Chris Fallon
Jim Godderz will make sure everyone gets an E Mail, this coming
week, of an ordinance which we can then correct or accept at the..
NEXT MEETING, WHICH WILL BE HELD ON JUNE 8,2005
AT EIGHT O’CLOCK PM IN THE BOROUGH COUNCIL
ROOM.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 PM.
