Old Business

The 3/22/05 Minutes were approved.

Little Crum Creek Park Clean-up: Several members met at the park before the meeting with Beth Svenson to discuss the wetland in preparation for the clean-up on May 7th.

Little Crum Creek Master Plan application: Peg reported that Edmund Jones had the application and was going to deliver it to Eck Gerner.

SRA Fall Programs: The committee will try to develop 2 programs. Julie will work on developing a birding program to be held at the college for 20-25 participants. Information about the program will be included in the fall brochure. Chris will work on developing a program on invasive plants to take place over 3 meetings in September or October. He will line up people to speak.

Marple Development: The builders have agreed to include many environmental measures which may at least make the project more reasonable. The steep slope issue was not fully addressed.

Plush Mill Development: Chris will try to get some updated information on this project.

PEC Stormwater Retrofit Assistance Program: There is no deadline for grant proposal. Chris will pursue this.

Stormwater Sampling Plan: Jim presented a well developed plan for testing and monitoring the stormwater outfalls in Swarthmore. There are 48 outfall sites in Swarthmore where water goes into an inlet and runs out into a creek. We will all participate in this project. The water testing training that a few members received will be helpful. Jim will send copies of the plan to members.

New Business

May 7th LCCP Clean-up: The clean-up will start at 9:00. Plans for the day were discussed.

Little Crum Creek fish kill: The Swarthmore Swim Club thought the pool water they were draining was going into a sanitary sewer when it was actually going directly into the creek. The water was filled with decaying leaves which may have depleted the creek of oxygen resulting in a fish kill. Solutions are being investigated.

EPA CARE program grants: No action was taken.

The meeting adjourned at 9:00pm.

Respectfully submitted,
Gina Eberly

Update: The LCCP grant application was signed and delivered to Eck Gerner on April 26th.
