Swarthmore Borough Planning and Zoning Committee
Minutes for May 23rd, 2007 Informational Only - No Quorum
1. The Committee convened at 7:35 pm in the Borough Manager’s Office . Present were Committee member Mary Lou Parker (chair), and Borough Manager Jane Billings.
2. We discussed two applications for subdivision, which will be forwarded to the Planning Commission, without comment, for hearings on June 20th, . One is a subdivision requested by Thomas and Anne Monari at 309 Rutgers Av.
The other is a reverse subdivision requested by Minnie and Roger Ullman at 199 Harvard Av. (which has been delayed)
3. The ZHB held over a request for a variance from the 10’ side yard setback for accessory structures in order to replace an existing garage with a new one. This may be the first of many variances, where owners cannot replace or modify existing structures that reside on the property line. It was suggested that the Planning Commission look into changing the existing ordinance.
4. MultiMunicipal Plan - An electronic copy, dated October 2006, which cannot be altered, has been received from the consultants. . The other 3 municipalities have already approved the document without changes suggested by our Planning Commission or the Del Co Planning Commission. As recommended by our solicitor, for Swarthmore’s version of the document, we will attach these changes to our document. We do not need to take these changes (which mainly apply to Swarthmore) back to the other 3 municipalities.
5. Planning Commission - The Commission plans to invite Suzanna Morikawa and Michel LeFerve to discuss historic alternatives for the Borough.
The next meeting of Planning & Zoning will be on August 15, 2007 at 7:30pm.
