must be curbside by 7 a.m.  There is no limit to the number of bags or containers.

 

PAPER

Newsprint, magazines, office paper, junk mail, telephone books, catalogs, and lightweight cardboard such as cereal boxes.  Place in paper bags or tie with string.  Heavy corrugated cardboard boxes must be taken to the Recycling Center.

COMMINGLED

Glass, aluminum, bi-metal, #1 & #2 plastic food, beverage and similar narrow-neck containers.  No plate glass, light bulbs, crystal, aluminum foil or pie plates.  Place commingled material in blue “Swarthmore Recycles” bin or other similar-sized container.  Extra bins are available at Borough Hall for $10.

LEAF/YARD WASTE

Leaves, garden residues, shrubbery and tree trimmings.  No grass clippings, branches greater than 4” in

diameter, stumps, fencing, bricks, concrete or wood.  Place in compostable, biodegradable paper   

bags or tie into bundle (4’ max) with green YARDWASTE sticker attached. Stickers available for $1 at Borough Hall and Swarthmore Hardware.  Call the Borough Office at 610-543-4599 or by e-mail at swarthmore2@comcast.net for collection date.                                                                       

 

The Swarthmore Recycling Center, located at 121 Dartmouth Avenue, is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.  All material except plastic and leaf/yard waste is accepted at the Recycling Center.
